At Broughton’s Farmers Guardian supported sale of Herdwick and Swaledale rams, the sale leader at 4,000gns was A. Hartley, Broughton-in-Furness with a three-shear Herdwick ram. It was knocked down to Messrs Wilson, Bootle.
Records were also broken at Clitheroe where a new Lonk breed record of £7350 was set for a shearling ram from T. Whitwell and Son. At Newark's Limousin Day top price was 9,000gns for the stock bull, Loosebeare Iain from Messrs Booth.
In the prime rings prime lambs have seen a very welcome lift in price at the beginning of this week - let's hope it continues in an upward direction. Cattle prices seem to be holding up and demand for both store lambs and cattle continues to be buoyant. |
