Strong pedigree sheep trade not being matched in the prime rings

Well lambing continues, we're just about to start the next batch that have come over, then apart from the odd one, that'll be the pure Suffolks finished. A few cattle jobs have been being done this week with bolusing and fluking being fitted in-between jobs. It's never ending!

I was down at Chelford market at the weekend where the ringside was packed with Texel and Beltex buyers. Trade was strong, with a Texel shearling gimmer from Boden and Davies topping at 5,000gns and the reserve Beltex champion, a Woodies imported Beltex gimmer topping at 1,700gns.

Lambs haven't been the best of trade this last week and prime cattle are also steady, although the store trade seems to be holding up at the moment.

Sales coming up this week
