Well
what a week of weather. We've gone from crisp, sunny days - where the ewes and
lambs have been out enjoying the sunshine on their backs - to non-stop rain.
The river burst its banks and the ground is completely poached.
In-between
the downpours we scanned our Beltex and Texel ewes and were pleased with a
percentage of 149.
Not many pedigree
sales at the moment but Welsh Blacks sold to 16,000gns at Dolgellau last week.
In spite of a steady prime lamb price, although some markets saw a lift at the
beginning of the week, store lambs are a very strong trade, so there must be a
belief things are set to improve. Likewise, prime cattle remain steady but
again, stores seem to be a decent trade. Also, the first ewes and lambs have been
seen in the sheep rings, meeting quite a decent trade.
