Well the weather
has turned. The trees are a burst of autumn colour and this has prompted us to
bring the cattle in. The last of the tups are now away, which is a
relief.
Sadly the piglets
are going to have to be confined to barracks as they getting more and more
adventurous with their explorations, and I feel our relationship with the
neighbours may be compromised.
We managed to squeeze in a trip to Stirling bull sales on Monday. Trade was flying for the Blelack Aberdeen-Angus dispersal sale, topping at 35,000gns for a cow and her bull calf made 10,000gns, that's some trade for an outfit!
Elsewhere there
has been some big prices in the pedigree sheep rings, with a £100,000 Blackface
ram lamb at Dalmally, although the prime prices seems to be slipping back.
Store
cattle trade is still strong, particularly for suckled calves, and anything
with show potential is making a good price. There are eight sales pages in
Farmers Guardian this week, so you can catch up with all the latest news there.
