Positive pedigree trade continues?

The weather has been shockingly wet up North this past week. Anyone who has sown seed or put fertiliser on the land the rain definitely would have washed it in, if not away!

Many folk are dressing gimmer lambs for the forthcoming sales. We've brought the Texel and Charollais shearling tups closer to home and will be looking to get them ready to sell over the coming weeks.

Good prices in the pedigree rings continue, with a Millington Limousin cow topping the sale at Carlisle at 50,000gns. Texel trade in Ireland was strong and the Valais Blacknose sheep created a lot of interest at Carlisle, selling to 3,600gns.

In the prime rings, lambs dipped a bit at the beginning of the week but are still not a bad price for the time of year. Prime cattle have seen small rise and the dairy trade still seems very positive for the better quality.
